Cherishing Vision

October 2012
Cherishing Vision

A photography exhibition of pictures clicked by school students will be held in the city on Sunday.

Exhibitions have always been a quintessential element of the city of lakes. While some put their paintings on display, others like flaunting what their lens captures in art galleries. This exhibition but, is really unusual. A photography exhibition, what makes it different are the participants. There are neither ace photographers nor art enthusiasts but school students who have captured the city in a different light.

An initiative by Sightsavers, a global development organisation working to eliminate avoidable blindness, this exhibition titled ‘Through Different Eyes – cherish your vision’ will have a display of forty photographs clicked by school students from across the country.

Around 130 photographs were received from prominent schools that were approached and entries accepted between September 28 and October 4. Forty pictures were thereafter shortlisted and thus will be on display at Swaraj Vidhi, Art Gallery, Ravindra Bhavan on October 14.

The highlight of the event will be a Special Jury Award wherein participants will explain their photographs  to a special jury comprising of people who are visually handicapped. The panel will then judge the best photograph based on the explanation and cash prizes and trophies will be given to the winners.
