Bhanwar’s Story

Bhanwar Kanwar has been an Anganwadi helper for over 16 years in an Anganwadi Centre in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Furthermore, she is a member of Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS).

Bhanwar, along with her husband, was identified with cataract under Sightsavers’ Urban Eye Health Programme. Thereafter, the couple went through cataract surgery at Sightsavers’ partner hospital in Jaipur.

Bhanwar is a leader in her own right. She is hard working and completely dedicated to her work. Being an Anganwadi helper and a MAS member at 65, Bhanwar has received lot of attention and support from people in her locality. She says, “Work is important for women. All women should work for themselves. Women are not meant to work only for families.”
