We work across India

Since 1966 Sightsavers India has worked across the country to protect sight and promote disability inclusion.

Priority States also known as High Focus states were identified by Sightsavers India as being the least developed and with the greatest need for eye health care in the country. The Priority States consists of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. These ten states are intensively engaged at District and State Level to bring about change. The intensive engagement for Eye Health, Inclusive Education and Social Inclusion are carried out in the mentioned states.

The other Sightsavers India programme states are Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. These states have the metros with the largest slum populations and the highest urban poverty. Urban Eye Health Programme and RAAHI- National Truckers’ Eye health Programme of Sightsavers India are carried out in the given states.
