Sightsavers launched a new Vision Centre under ‘Netra Vasant’- the Rural Eye Health Programme in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. The Vision Centre is supported by Fullerton India Credit Company Limited and will be operated by Shri Jagdamba Charitable Eye Hospital of Ganganagar in partnership with Sightsavers.
The Vision Centre will be extending services of eye testing, refraction, spectacles dispensation and identification of cataract and other eye problems with referral to Shri Jagdamba Charitable Eye Hospital at Ganganagar. This is the second vision centre supported by Fullerton Credit Co Ltd. in Rajasthan, the first vision centre was launched at Nimbaheda, Chittorgarh in October 2020. Fullerton India Credit Company Limited will also be supporting Sightsavers for facilitating cataract surgeries in the district.
Sightsavers through its Rural Eye Health Programme seeks to create awareness, provide quality eye health services and eliminate avoidable blindness among the rural population. The Programme focusses on reducing the prevalence of blindness to 0.3% in a span of five years.
The inauguration was graced by representatives of Fullerton India CSR and business teams along with participation from Mr R N Mohanty, CEO Sightsavers India and other Sightsavers team members through an online platform. Participants shared how the Vision Centre would be extending quality and affordable eye care services to the communities of Hanumangarh. Ms Ranjana Sethi, the Director of Jagdamba inaugurated the Vision Centre along with local team of Fullerton India.
“This particular area has a very high need of eye care services. Hanumangarh is connected to many villages and therefore, many people in need of eye care services will be able to attend this Vision Centre,” said Ms Ranjana Sethi, the Director of Jagdamba.
