Under Rural Eye Health Programme High Impact strategy of Sightsavers India Birpara II Gram Panchayat under Alipurduar district was given CBBF status which is in line with NPCB

As part of the Rural Eye Health Programme High Impact strategy of Sightsavers India Birpara II Gram Panchayat under Alipurduar district was declared Cataract Blindness Backlog Free (CBBF) status which is inline with the National Programme for Control of Blindness.  All steps prescribed by NPCBVI were followed including submission of digital records, verification by block and then ultimately certification by block. The process involved meeting with the Panchayat and Gram Sabha members explaining the objectives to training of volunteers on primary eye screening and referral and deputation of Optometrist for 1 month in the block to select BLBC (Bilateral blind cataract) cases on priority and referral for surgery.
