Rajesh’s story

There’s a dim place between clear sight and blindness and it is called low vision. People suffering from low vision experience difficulties performing the activities of daily living. They have concerns about finding jobs for themselves.

32-year-old Rajesh from Majhuli district in Jabalpur faced a similar problem as he had low vision. With a wife and two daughters, Rajesh was finding it difficult to fulfill the basic requirements of the family. He kept on approaching many organisations to get support for his livelihood.

Rajesh met Sightsavers’ team of Social Inclusion Programme who helped him in forming a Self-Help Group and also getting access of his pension which had been blocked for a year. Rajesh named the Self–Help Group as “Sunder”.

Rajesh was trained for Organic Farming by Sightsavers after which he started the vegetable production on his 0.3 acre of land. Today, his monthly income has come upto 2000/- and he feels grateful to Sightsavers for their support.
