RN Mohanty

India CEO

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. R N Mohanty brings on board over 23 years of experience in international development. He has a Master’s degree in Economics and has also done his Post Graduation in Human Resource Management.

RN, as he is fondly called, is regarded as a leader with a clear vision for tomorrow. He is well known and honored by his associates and peers for his futuristic decision making capacity and good sense of judgment, essential for a leader at the helm of affairs.

RN over the years has had experience of working on diverse issues like environment, health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, livelihood, education, disability and eye health.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, RN was the Chief Operating Officer at CARE India.

Prasannakumar P.N.

Prasannakumar

Director – Programme Operations

Prasanna joined Sightsavers in 2004 and at present is the Director – Programme Operations. Based out of the country office, he is primarily responsible for the overall programme strategy in India.

Prior to joining Sightsavers he worked with Christian Children’s Fund where he had independent charge of Orissa and Chhattisgarh programmes. He has also worked with Save the Children (UK).

Avijit Dey

Avijit-Dey

Director – Funding & Marketing

Avijit joined Sightsavers in 2011 and is the Director of Funding & Marketing in India. His key responsibility is to develop and implement Sightsavers’ marketing and fundraising strategy in India. He comes with a wide range of experience of the overseas markets.

Avijit has spent over 16 years in the development sector and has a passion for marketing. This has brought about a profound influence on his professional life.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Avijit worked at Plan India, Intervida and Deepalaya.

He completed his graduation from Delhi University and is a post graduate in PR and Advertising from the Centre for Mass Media, New Delhi.

Smitha Bala

Smitha-bala

Human Resource Business Partner

Smitha Bala joins Sightsavers as Human Resource Business Partner for India. In addition to her India role, she will also be temporarily supporting the Bangladesh and Srilanka country offices.

Smitha is a human resource management professional with more than 12 years of experience and has worked extensively in the areas of HR operations, recruitment, talent management, building employee retention, implementing organizational development (OD) plans for enhancing the operational effectiveness; design and implement HR Strategy as per the overall organizational structure; formulation of HR policy etc. Her last assignment was with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) where she worked for more than 7 years. She is a Delhi university graduate and holds a PG diploma in Human Resource Management from Symbiosis Institute. Smitha is married and has one Daughter.

Abraham George

Abraham-George

Director – Research, Monitoring & Evaluation, Learning

Abraham is an MA in Sociology and M.Com and has over 22 years of experience in the development sector.

Abraham joined Sightsavers in the year 2008 as Area Director for North West India and currently is the Director for Research, Monitoring & Evaluation for Sightsavers in India. He is primarily responsible for coordinating the research, M&E, Learning, Documentation, Programme Development and Quality of intervention for the India programmes.

Prior to joining Sightsavers he had worked with CARE India, Indian Institute for Health Management Research, and YMCAs in India in diverse capacities ranging from Programme Management, Resource Mobilisation, Research, M&E, Leadership and Team Management. He has worked extensively in the area of RCH, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS, Eye health and disability.

Pooja Bagga

Pooja-Bagga

Director – Finance

Pooja is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and Post Graduate in Commerce with more than 16 years of progressive experience with Non Profit Sector in Financial Management of Development organisations. She has worked extensively in Grant Management, Financial Monitoring, Evaluations and Financial assessments, Capacity Building in finance for NGO’s.

Prior to Joining Sightsavers, Pooja has worked with United States Agency for International Development (USAID/India), Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and Financial Management Service Foundation (FMSF). Her experience includes working with various International organisations like USAID for India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Bftw-EED Germany, Christian Aid in wide variety of accounting and finance roles.

Archana Bhambal

Archana-Bhambal

Area Director – North India

Archana joined Sightsavers in 2008 as Area Director for North India, a position she currently holds. Her role involves overseeing the programmes in North India including their strategy and development process.

Archana is a Member of National Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Plan Appraisal Team of MHRD, Government of India.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Archana has worked for District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. She has contributed to the planning, implementation and monitoring of the government’s Universalization of Elementary Education programme.
Archana has a Master’s Degree in science and education and has been in the social sector for over 20 years.

Sudipta Mohanty

Sudipta Mohanty

Area Director – India East

Sudipta is a Post Graduate from XISS, Ranchi and has been in the social development sector for more than 16 years. Further to his Post Graduation, he has done his MS in Regional Development Planning and Management from University of Dortmund, Germany and Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management from IIM, Ranchi.

Sudipta joined Sightsavers in 2008 as Programme Manager and is currently the Area Director for India (East) since 2015. His role involves strategic planning, partnership development, overseeing the programmes, administration and financial control. Prior to joining Sightsavers, he has worked with Catholic Relief Services as Deputy State Representative for the states of MP and CG. An avid reader and enthusiast in organization development and leadership issues, he enjoys exploring avenues of social enterprises for health care innovations.
